Caprese Salad

A delicious Italian salad featuring ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and extra-virgin olive oil.

This salad is best made with peak-season tomatoes during the summer.

Caprese Salad

Ingredients

  • 4 large, ripe Tomatoes
  • 8 ounces of Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
  • 12 fresh Basil Leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of Sea Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon of Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

Directions

  1. Slice the tomatoes into slices (about 1/2 cm thick).
  2. Slice the mozzarella cheese into slices (about 1/2 cm thick).
  3. Arrange the tomato slices on a serving platter.
  4. Sprinkle the sea salt and black pepper over the tomatoes.
  5. Add the mozzarella pieces over the tomatoes.
  6. Scatter the basil leaves across the salad.
  7. Drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil evenly over the salad.
  8. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • Use ripe, in-season tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • Add the basil just before serving to keep it fresh and vibrant.
  • A drizzle of balsamic glaze can be added for additional sweetness and flavor.
