Caprese Salad
A delicious Italian salad featuring ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and extra-virgin olive oil.
This salad is best made with peak-season tomatoes during the summer.
Ingredients
- 4 large, ripe Tomatoes
- 8 ounces of Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
- 12 fresh Basil Leaves
- 1 teaspoon of Sea Salt
- 0.5 teaspoon of Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
Directions
- Slice the tomatoes into slices (about 1/2 cm thick).
- Slice the mozzarella cheese into slices (about 1/2 cm thick).
- Arrange the tomato slices on a serving platter.
- Sprinkle the sea salt and black pepper over the tomatoes.
- Add the mozzarella pieces over the tomatoes.
- Scatter the basil leaves across the salad.
- Drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil evenly over the salad.
- Serve immediately.
Tips
- Use ripe, in-season tomatoes for the best flavor.
- Add the basil just before serving to keep it fresh and vibrant.
- A drizzle of balsamic glaze can be added for additional sweetness and flavor.
